Warangal: Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao lauded the social service activities of the Lions Club.

Participating as the Chief Guest at Gautam Buddha Regional Meet of the Lions Club International presided by the newly-elected Lions Regional Chairperson Chennamaneni Jayasree at Vajra Gardens here on Sunday, Chennamaneni Jayashree, newly elected Lions Regional Chairman, Minister Rao said that the formation of the Lions Club was commendable with the intention of helping the needy in the society. “The Lions Club is the only charitable organization in the world with a huge membership providing a friendly atmosphere among people of different races, religions and traditions in the society,” said the Minister.

Stating that the motto of the Lions” Club is ‘We Serve’, the Minster appreciated the services rendered by the Lions Clubs on a non-profit basis. The Minster appealed to the voluntary organizations to render advise to the State in its efforts to provide corporate level education to the poor and had all the praise for its support during the corona pandemic.

Later, the Minister released the Lions’ Club Souvenir. Speaking on the occasion, Lions District Governor M Raji Reddy said that the Lions’ Clubs donated 20 body freezers, Smart TVs to 30 government schools and conducted various service activities spending Rs.1.5 crore during the last year.

Meanwhile, Katanguri Ram Gopal Reddy has been adjudged Lion of the Region while Warangal Sports as the Best Club, Narsimha Reddy of Kakatiya Lions Club as the Best Chairman, Mahesh of Sports Club and Chandarbabu of Pothana Club as Best Secretaries, Dussa Shiva Shankar and Mandala Parashuramulu as Warriors.
