Warangal: NGO donates 750 smartphones to rural students

Warangal Urban: Bala Vikasa distributed smart phones to the children of Bala Vikasa women group members in a special programme organised at Kazipet here on Saturday.
Shoury Reddy, Executive Director of Bala Vikasa said that the Covid pandemic is forcing all educational institutions to conduct online classes. “Many of the students from economically poor backgrounds are not able to attend the online classes due lack of access to smartphones. Considering the requests from Bala Vikasa women group members in its network of villages the NGO approached institutional and individual donors to donate to buy smartphones. With the donations mobilised from different donors from Canada and India and also contributions given by the children we have provided smart phones to 750 students worth about Rs. 60,00,000,” he added.
The students were motivated to use smartphones smartly to improve their knowledge and become smart students. Latha who heads Bala Vikasa women empowerment programme thanked all the donors for their generous contributions. Sivaram, Jyoti and other field coordinators of Bala Vikasa attended the meeting at PDTC.
