Warangal: Warangal police arrested an externed criminal, Dasari Surender alias Suri, along with his seven accomplices, and seized two country-made pistols from them.
Speaking to the media here on Friday, East Zone DCP Ankit Kumar said that after being expelled from the limits of the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate, Surender had settled in the Bhimaram area of Hanamkonda and formed a gang comprising four students and a dog farm owner.
Surender, who lived in Meerpet, Hyderabad, for several years, was involved in 39 offences, including murder, rape, robbery, and other crimes, for which he had served jail sentences and was listed as a rowdy sheeter. He was externed from the city thrice under the PD Act by Meerpet police.
The gang procured two weapons and planned to extort money from petrol pump and stone crusher owners near Shayampet by threatening them with pistols. They intended to use the money to attack those responsible for the murder of Surender’s follower, Basith of Bhupalpally.
On October 18, Surender and his associates allegedly threatened a lorry driver on the Mandaripet highway in Shayampet mandal, Warangal, and filled petrol in two bikes without payment. Following this, Shayampet and Task Force police arrested the accused and booked them under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), NDPS Act, and Arms Act, the DCP said.
