Warangal: A case of police allegedly registering a false case against eight minors to help a car owner to get vehicle insurance money has come to light on Tuesday.

According to information, on August 5, police constable K Raju, residing at Ramnagar Tower Apartment in Hanamkonda, lodged a complaint with the Subedari police stating that eight minors residing in the same apartment damaged his car. In his complaint, Raju alleged that his car was damaged when he was out of station on official duty. He alleged that the minors wrote objectionable things about his daughter on the car.

However, the parents of the minors told media persons on Tuesday that their children were innocent and that the constable had framed them to get the insurance amount. The parents claimed that the car belongs to Bethi Anusha, a resident of Uppugal village in Zaffergadh mandal of Jangaon district, and that Raju had no right to lodge a complaint on her behalf.

“The police lodged an FIR without even visiting our society. How can an FIR be filed without a probe? About 45 days have passed and so far not a single police personnel has visited us to know about the facts,” they alleged.

The issue has gone viral on various social media platforms in the district and the netizens are criticising the police action.

Meanwhile, Subedari Inspector P Satyanarayana Reddy told the media that it was not a serious case and was basically filed to get an FIR to claim the vehicle insurance amount. “We filed an FIR as without it, insurance companies will not release the insurance amount to the car owner,” he said.
