Warangal police recover 28 stolen motorcycles worth Rs 25 lakh

Warangal CCS and KUC police arrested two alleged vehicle thieves and recovered 28 stolen motorcycles worth Rs 25 lakh. The accused reportedly stole bikes across several Telangana districts, and police are linking the recoveries to cases registered in different commissionerates.

Hanamkonda: Warangal CCS and KUC police recovered 28 motorcycles worth Rs 25 lakh and arrested two persons allegedly involved in vehicle thefts.

Speaking to the media, Commissioner of Police N Swetha said special teams under the supervision of Central Zone DCP Kavitha were formed to probe a series of two-wheeler thefts under the commissionerate limits, as the stolen motorcycles were allegedly being used in chain-snatching incidents.

During vehicle checks on Monday, the police detained two suspects, Donthula Prashanth Kumar and Durgam Sai Karthik, both from Mancherial district. Preliminary investigations revealed that they had been stealing two-wheelers across various districts in Telangana to make easy money.

During interrogation, they allegedly confessed to the thefts and revealed the locations where they had hidden the vehicles. Police recovered 28 motorcycles from the outskirts of Munipalli village under the KUC police station limits and areas near Elkathurthi.

The accused had allegedly stolen eight vehicles under the Warangal Commissionerate, nine under the Karimnagar Commissionerate, three under the Ramagundam Commissionerate in Peddapalli district, two under the Siddipet Commissionerate, three under the Hyderabad Commissionerate, one under the Rachakonda Commissionerate and two in Bhupalpally district, the CP said.

Further investigation is underway to link these recoveries with the respective police stations where the cases were originally registered. The accused have prior records of property-related offences at various police stations.

The CP commended CCS Inspectors A Raghavender, E Harikrishna and K Ramakrishna; KUC Inspector Ravi Kumar; CCS SI Srinivasaraju; head constables Naseem Ahmed, Raviprasad and Jampaiah; constables Visweswar, Vamsi and Vinod; IT Core Team AO Md Salman Pasha; and constable Nagesh for nabbing the accused. Hanamkonda and CCS ACPs Narasimha Rao and Sadaiah were present.
