Warangal: The Hanamkonda police have arrested two thieves for allegedly lifting expensive Royal Enfield two-wheelers, and recovered seven motorcycles worth about Rs 11 lakh from them.
The arrested have been identified as Shaik Saida of Konanki village of Piduguralla mandal in Guntur District, who is presently residing at Hanmakonda’s Kumarpally locality, and Mohammad Abdul Arif of Bodhan of Nizamabad District, who has been residing at Kumarpally.
Disclosing the details, Warangal Police Commissioner Dr Tarun Joshi on Friday said that one of the accused, Shaik Saida, was engaged in collection and selling of the waste/scrap material. “As Saida had debts to clear at his hometown, he along with Arif, who is working as a labourer in a communications company, have decided to steal expensive two-wheelers of the Royal Enfield and stole them from Kumarapalli, Reddy Colony and Bokkalagadda areas under Hanamkonda police station. They kept the stolen vehicles at the railway station of Warangal, and Hanamkonda bus station parking lots. By removing the registration number plates of the vehicles, they used them for their own needs before selling to others,” he explained.
However, police have arrested Shaik Saida, who came to the bus station on a two-wheeler to move the stolen vehicles from there and sell them. Later , they also arrested his accomplice.
