Warangal Urban: The authorities of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) are getting ready to launch the works of the integrated veg and meat market at the IB Guest House at Nakkalagutta in Hanamkonda under the GWMC limits soon.
The authorities have identified two acres of the land for purpose and an agreement with the contractor was also completed. According to Superintending Engineer (SE), GWMC, Satyanarayana, the government had allotted Rs 4.5 crore for the construction of the integrated market at the IB Guest House.
“As per the directions of the ENC, MA&UD, Sridhar, we will take up the integrated market construction works soon,” he added. Meanwhile, the process of tendering for the integrated market sanctioned with Rs 24 crore in 4.16 acres of the land at Lakshmipuram in Warangal has also been completed. The GWMC is also planning to construct one more integrated market at Pullaiahkunta at Rangasaipeta in Warangal in 2.15 acres of the land. “We will soon level the identified site at Pullaiahkunta in the city and take steps to begin the works,” the SE said.
Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Errabelli Dayakar Rao said that the Warangal city needs at least five integrated markets. It is said that sites at Kazipet Old Market and Chintagattu Canal are also under consideration for setting up markets. “Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and Minister for MA&UD KT Rama Rao are keen on improving the facilities for the vendors as many vendors are still seen selling the vegetables on the margins of the roads. We need to have model markets which are maintained under hygienic conditions,” Rao added.
