Warangal: A one-day online workshop on “Career opportunities for Mechanical Engineering Students in Computer Application Related Industries” was organised in the Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science (KITS) on Saturday.
Addressing the students, Dega Tirupathi Reddy, An IT Consultant for Bank of Tanzania and ASP company, has said that mechanical engineering students were having dual advantages as they can get jobs in core industries and software organisations.
“Parents and students are apprehensive that mechanical engineering students are not suitable for software jobs. But it is totally wrong and for some of the leading software organisations, mechanical engineering graduates are working as CEOs,” he added.
He said that the students of the mechanical engineering department could get jobs in in the various applications of software industries, banking sectors, public and private sector units, manufacturing industries and automotive engineering industries, etc.
According to Professor and HoD, ME, Dr K. Sridhar, 82 mechanical engineering students got jobs in core and software industries in 2020-21.
“So far four research scholars have been awarded PhD degrees from the department,” he added.
In this programme, faculty coordinators S Ramesh, P Anitha, Student coordinator, D Sathwik Reddy, Professor In-charge IQAC, Prof K Eswaraiah, COE, KITSW, Prof K Rajanarender Reddy, Head, Centre for Innovation Incubation Research and Entrepreneurship (IIRE), Prof P Srikanth, Professor In-charge OBE, Prof U Shrinivas Balraj, PRO Dr D Prabhkarachary and others were present.
