Hyderabad: Trollers had a field day when SS Rajamouli announced that he was postponing the release of his much-talked about movie ‘RRR’. This might have left his hardcore fans depressed, but ‘is it fair to troll the ace director in such a savage manner for his decision’ is what users on social media think!
Some of them targetted him not because of postponing ‘RRR’ but for making other films like ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’ and ‘Bheemla Nayak’ pull out from the race. Another accusation being heard on social media is that movies of Mahesh Babu and Pawan Kalyan haven’t prepared to enter the fray for Sankranti, because of Rajamouli’s last-minute decision.
To make it a point, when the makers of Ram Charan and Jr NTR starrer first announced the release date officially a month ago, the third wave wasn’t this intense as it is now. Starting in the first week of January, the Omicron engulfed major parts of Maharashtra and Delhi. One must also question why Prabhas-starrer ‘Radhe Shyam’ wasn’t released last year?
The year 2021 was not optimistic for film business as it was gripped by the deadly second wave wreaking havoc. The nerve centre of Indian cinema, Bollywood, was staring at a grim future with no new releases. The makers of ‘RRR’, ‘Radhe Shyam’ and even ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ also held back their films sensing the danger.
After ‘Akhanda’ made massive business strides at the box office, followed by Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa’, pan-India makers woke up suddenly to the numbers and thought it’s the right time to push their films into the market. While the decision of ‘Radhe Shyam’ is still hanging, ‘is it fair to blame Rajamouli for backtracking on his promise?’ is the question fans should ask before posting a comment.
