Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A washerman was brutally murdered by unidentified persons at Gambhiraopet village in Tiryani mandal on Wednesday night.
Police said Rachakonda Sattaiah (50), a resident of the village, was killed on the spot after the assailants slit his throat around 10 pm. Police suspected that some members of his community might have been involved following a dispute over fixing charges for washing clothes. Sattaiah is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.
It was learnt that members of the community had demanded a hefty charge for washing the clothes of villagers during a meeting held in the village recently. However, Sattaiah came forward to do the job for a nominal price, drawing the ire of the members. Police suspected that some members held a grudge against him and killed him.
Meanwhile, police said a murder case was registered against a person from the village on Thursday, but withheld the identity of the accused for undisclosed reasons.
