Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was left visibly embarrassed on Tuesday when former Reserve Bank of India Governor Duvvuri Subba Rao highlighted the remarkable progress Telangana achieved over the last decade, a period under the previous BRS government.
The former RBI Governor’s remarks, delivered at the Global Summit organised by the Congress government at Future City, effectively validated Telangana’s rapid growth across sectors under BRS rule while exposing the Congress government’s narrative that sought to undermine those achievements.
Recalling Telangana’s transformation in the presence of industrialists and global delegates, Subba Rao said the region was once associated with feudalism, poverty, backwardness and ignorance. “It is today, possibly the number one State, clocking possibly the highest growth rate in the country over the last 10 years,” he said.
Calling Hyderabad a “charming and beautiful city” and a “jewel of India”, he said the city represented the true blend of tradition, values and modernity. “I am very proud of the city. If there is one Indian city that represents all of India, it is Hyderabad,” he said, adding that it remained safe for everyone and stood as the best example of unity in diversity.
“Someone from somewhere in the world will say, we want to follow the Telangana model,” Subba Rao concluded.
