Medak: A group of villagers who ventured into the forest fringes near Gundreddipally in Toopran mandal to spot the Palapitta bird on the auspicious occasion of Dasara were startled to find a leopard resting under a rock on a hillock, on Thursday.
The leopard’s presence was captured on mobile phones by locals, and the videos quickly circulated through the community, intensifying concerns.
The sighting of the wild animal in close proximity to human habitation triggered panic, especially among farmers and cattle herders who regularly pass through the area.
Forest officials have advised villagers to avoid the area until the leopard retreats deeper into the forest. Authorities have stepped up monitoring and are closely tracking the animal’s movements to ensure public safety.
