Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at the Chief Minister’s residence on Monday morning as members of the Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU) attempted to lay siege in protest against the delay in fee reimbursement.
Raising slogans of “CM down down”, PDSU activists marched towards the Chief Minister’s residence, carrying placards and banners demanding that the State government clear the pending fee reimbursement dues.
When police personnel tried to stop them, the protesters squatted on the road. A few members attempted to breach the barricades and proceed towards the residence, but were quickly detained by the police.
The protesters were taken into custody and shifted from the site.
Last week, PDSU members staged protests at multiple locations across the State, demanding that the Congress government release the pending fee reimbursement dues and scholarships.
They alleged that despite repeated appeals, the government had failed to address their concerns. The delay, they said, was causing severe financial hardship and mental stress to thousands of students dependent on the scheme.
