Karimnagar: BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy was literally dragged out of the district review meeting by the police after the former questioned Jagtial turncoat MLA Sanjay Kumar as to which party he was representing at the meeting.
Noisy scenes were witnessed at the meeting in Karimnagar with Kaushik Reddy and Sanjay Kumar entering into a verbal duel, with both pushing each other in between. Intervening in the argument, the police, however, chose to drag Kaushik Reddy out of the hall, without even restraining Sanjay Kumar, who had jumped ship from the BRS to the Congress after winning on BRS ticket.
The episode unfolded when Irrigation Minister and district in-charge Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy conducted a review meeting to discuss the implementation of various government welfare schemes in erstwhile Karimnagar.
BC Welfare and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, MLC T Jeevan Reddy and other MLAs also participated in the meeting wherein officials from the entire erstwhile Karimnagar district were present.
When Sanjay Kumar began speaking, Kaushik Reddy asked him to make it clear which party he was representing. When Sanjay Kumar replied that he was representing the Congress, Kaushik Reddy raised objections and pointed out that Sanjay Kumar had denied joining the Congress earlier.
With the argument turning serious and almost reaching fisticuffs, the police literally dragged Kaushik Reddy out of the meeting hall. Speaking to the media outside, Kaushik Reddy came down heavily on the Congress government for betraying the people by not implementing its promises.
Also warning the police against acting as if they were Congress workers, he reminded them that it was former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao who had hiked the salaries of police, provided vehicles and developed police stations with better facilities.
