Hyderabad: The Attapur police seized a tanker on Monday night when local residents at Langar Houz spotted a truck driver allegedly trying to release the chemical effluents from the tanker into river Musi.

According to the local residents, the big tanker drove towards Musi river bed near Ram Temple Langar Houz on Monday night.

Spotting the huge truck with bold lettering of Hydrochloric Acid in the dead of the night, suspicious residents in the neighborhood apprehended the driver. On questioning, the driver told them that he was asked to release the chemical effluents into the river.

The locals informed the police who then reached the place and took the driver into custody. The tanker was seized.

The residents have complained that they are facing problems as industries find it quite convenient to release industrial waste into Musi from Attapur area.
