Residents tried to stop the authorities from demolition and heated exchange of words took place between locals and authorities

Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed as civic authorities took up demolition of alleged illegal structures including some houses at Arundhati Nagar in Jawaharnagar Municipal Corporation on Tuesday.
The civic authorities amidst heavy police security deployment started demolition, and razed down 15 houses in the morning. During which, tension moments were witnessed as local residents tried to stop the authorities from demolishing their houses.
Subsequently, both sides ended up in an heated exchange of words, with authorities using mild force to calm the protestors and disperse the crowd.
Several protestors, particularly women raised objection with the razing down of their houses. The residents claimed they were staying in the houses for several years now and demolitions were not right.
The Jawaharnagar police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Two people were booked for attempting to stop the demolitions and deterring public servants from performing their legitimate duties.
