Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s attempts to show the BRS government in poor light through a presentation on encroachments of water bodies from 2014 to 2023 is being countered on social media with facts and figures on the measures taken up by the previous government to repair and renovate water bodies.
Sharing the First Water Bodies Census conducted by Ministry of Jal Shakthi in 2017-18, Aravind Varier, a teacher who has been following developments in Telangana said on X: “It clearly proves that BRS had done a good job in water bodies renovation in Telangana…”
As per the Water bodies Census report shared by him, Telangana leads the chart in the country as repair and renovation of 8,292 water bodies was conducted. Aravind also said 4.733 percent of water bodies in Telangana were encroached as per the first water bodies’ census of 2017-18.
“We can infer from the datasets that most of it would have had been encroached before 2014 because Telangana was also the leader in water bodies conservation in 2017-18 in India,” he said, tagging BRS leader Manne Krishank’s post on X. Sharing before and after images of a few lakes in the post, the BRS leader had said that the images released by the Congress government actually show good work on lakes in KCR garu’s term.
“In images before 2014 in then Congress government you don’t find a water body but after 2014 with significant works on lakes like Mission Kakatiya rejuvenation of water body became possible…” he posted.
