Suryapet: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Sunday maintained that the BJP state president Bandi Sanjay’s comments on Krishna river water dispute indicated the latter’s immaturity.

Speaking to the media, Jagadish Reddy said Sanjay’s comments were immature and criticized the Centre for remaining a silent spectator on the dispute between two states on Krishna river water sharing. He reminded that Centre had a responsibility to interfere and solve the disputes. He said that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had already suggested ways to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to ensure legitimate utilization of Krishna river waters by the both states. He recalled that Telangana had amicably solved the dispute on Godavari waters with other states.

Reminding that the Centre held peace talks with some other states, he questioned as to why states should not settle disputes in an amicable manner. Telangana state was constructing irrigation projects on Krishna river only after getting the permission from the authorities concerned. He pointed out that Andhra Pradesh got maximum benefit from Krishna river in the united Andhra Pradesh.

He said that AP Chief Minister should have clarity on usage of river water. “Our Chief Minister has already suggested for systematic use of river water, which was going waste into the sea. Telangana government would not compromise on protecting the interests of the people of the state. The attitude of opposition parties was impacting the interests of the state”, he regretted. The Centre did not respond even though 100 letters were written on Krishna water issue to it by the Telangana state. BJP state president should not talk without knowing the facts, he advised. He asked leaders of opposition parties to support the state government for protection of interests of the state. Otherwise, they would remain as traitors in the history of Telangana .
