Water level in river Godavari rising at Bhadrachalam in Kothagudem district
Kothagudem: The water level in river Godavari at Bhadrachalam in the district has been increasing slowly and reached 38.70 feet at 6 pm on Wednesday. There has been an increase of 4.2 feet in the water level since 6 pm, on Tuesday, at which the water level recorded was 34.50 feet.
District Collector, D Anudeep informed that there was a possibility of Godavari water level at Bhadrachalam to reach the first warning level of 43 feet by Friday morning as water was being released from upstream projects like Sriram Sagar, Sripada Yellampalli and Lakshmi barrage.
He advised the residents in the villages on the banks of the river to be alert and move to flood relief centres. He directed the revenue officials to make all arrangements for people at the relief centres.

In Dummugudem mandal, Sitavagu, a tributary of Godavari was in spate leading to inundation of Narachirala area at the famous pilgrim centre, Parnasala. In Khammam, the water level in Munneru, a tributary of river Krishna, has been rising and reached 20 feet on Tuesday evening.
Meanwhile, there was a respite from rains in erstwhile Khammam district. Only two mandals, Singareni and Kamepalli witnessed light rain during the past 24 hours and 19 other mandals remained dry. In Kothagudem, the district average rainfall in the past 24 hours was 5.1 mm. Except Laxmidevipallia and Sujatha Nagar all other 21 mandals received light rainfall during the period, informed the officials.
