Karimnagar: Welfare Minister Koppula Eashwar said that water needs of drought prone Choppadandi area got fulfilled with the construction of Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project. The Minister along with Choppadandi MLA Sunke Ravi Shankar inaugurated Rythu Vedika in Thirumalapur of Kodimyal mandal on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Eashwar said before formation of Telangana State, Choppadandi youth used to migrate to gulf countries in the search of employment due to lack of irrigable water. However, the situation has changed after the formation of a separate state. As part of Kaleshwaram project, Gayatri (Laxmipur) pump house was constructed in the constituency.
Besides Narayanapur reservoir, water has been supplied to Mid Manair reservoir from where water is being shifted to different parts of the state, he expressed happiness. Ravishankar said an additional ayacut of 40,000 acres was enhanced with the filling of Maisamma tank and Potharam reservoirs with Kaleshwaram water. Informing that 14 check dams were sanctioned for Choppadandi constituency, he promised to develop the segment on par with Konaseem with the support of the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
