Water projects in Telangana receive huge inflows

Karimnagar: Moderate to light rainfall was recorded in erstwhile Karimnagar district on Monday. Almost all areas of Karimanagar, Peddapalli, Rajanna-Sircilla and Jagtial districts are experiencing drizzling.

The highest of 46.5 mm rainfall was recorded in Marrigadda of Rajanna-Sircilla district followed by Malyalapalli 44.8, and Manthani 44.3 of Peddapalli district.


In Rajanna-Sircilla, Namapur received 42.3 mm rainfall, Peddur 40.0, Nizambad 34.8, Veernapalli 34.5, Marthanpeta 26.5, Mallaram 23.5, Ellanthakunta 23.0, Sircilla 21.8, Rudrangi 19.3, Nerella 15.0 Namapalli 13.0 and Kandikatkur 11.0.

While Kunaram of Peddapalli got 40.0 mm rain, Ramagundam received 36.3 mm followed by Eklaspur 27.0, Srirampur 23.3, Akenapalli 20.0, Odela 14.5, Maredupalli 13.0, and Palthem 11.3.

In Karimnagar, Thanugula experienced 37.0, Kothapalli-Dharmaram 33.3, Jammikunta 30.3, Tadikal 21.8, Kothagattu 17.0, Veenavanka 16.0, Gangipalli 14. 5, Karimangar 13.8 and Nustulapur 11.5 mm.

While Mannegudem of Jagtial district received 22.8 mm rain, Medipalli 17.0 followed by Mallial 15.3, Raikal 13.5, Kallapur 12.8, Jaggasagar 11.5, Kathalapur 11.0 and Ailapur 10.5 mm.

As a result, irrigation projects were getting huge inflows. Sripada Yellampalli Project is getting 3,12,949 cusecs of water and 3,66,972 cusecs water is being released into the downstream by lifting 36 flood gates up to the height of two meter. 18.45 tmc water is available as against its storage capacity of 20.175 tmc.

About 22,115 cusecs water is being reached to Mid Manair reservoir and 65,172 cusecs is being released downstream by lifting 18 flood gates. Against 27.55 tmc, 24.754 tmc water is available in the dam.
Meanwhile, Lower Manair Dam is getting 33,565 cusecs of water.

Project officials have lifted 10 gates to discharge 22,769 cusecs of water. 23.558 tmc water is available as against 24.034 tmc.
