Karimnagar: Water from the Lower Manair Dam has been released through the Kakatiya canal to provide irrigable water to crops in the present Yasangi season.
Collector Pamela Satpathy released water by switching on a regulator at LMD project on Tuesday. Interacting with irrigation Superintendent Engineer Peddi Ramesh, she enquired about cultivation areas under the project, water storage capacity and quantity of water being discharged.
She instructed the officials to release water according to the schedule. Superintendent Engineer informed the collector that a plan has been prepared to release 44.480 tmc of water to ayacut. Informing that the releasing of water would be continued up to March 31, a total of 6.97 lakh acre of land would get water.
Water would be supplied on an ‘On-Off’ system to the areas falling under Zone-1&2. Every day, 4000 cusecs of water would be released through the canal while getting 11 tmc from Mid Manair and five tmc from SRSP project.
Presently, 22.870 tmc of water is available in LMD as against its storage capacity of 24 tmc.
