Karimnagar: Water was released into the Kakatiya canal from the Lower Manair Dam (LMD) on Wednesday.
Manakondur MLA Dr Kavvampally Satyanarayana, along with LMD Superintendent Engineer Ramesh, formally released the water by switching on the head regulator. The project has been receiving heavy inflows due to recent rains and lifting of water from the Sripada Yellampalli project through Kaleshwaram motors. Consequently, the storage level in LMD has reached 22 TMC against its full capacity of 24 TMC.
To regulate water levels, the irrigation authorities have begun discharging water through the Kakatiya canal.
