Hyderabad: Three Telangana Ministers slammed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy for writing a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi complaining against Telangana for generating power from Srisailam hydel power plant.
At separate media interactions, Prohibition and Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud, Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy and Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy criticised Jagan for unnecessarily creating controversy over water issues. “Telangana is a place of agitations and the illegal projects of AP would be stopped and we will continue with our projects in Telangana,” Goud said, adding that AP was creating differences unnecessarily. “We don’t have any such intentions. During Telangana movement, our children sacrificed their lives but did not harm anyone,” he said.
Jagan was trying to divert attention from Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme and requesting the Prime Minister to provide CISF protect to common reservoirs. “How can Jagan take up construction of new projects when new water allocations have not been finalised?” he questioned.
Stating that Telangana took up construction of projects on Krishna River based on orders issued during the undivided AP period, he said: “AP says these projects are illegal. Are those orders illegal then?” he asked.
“If necessary, we will meet Modi and seek justice for us,” he said, requesting that Jagan refrain from dragging KRMB into the controversy. The Centre, he said, should not be entrapped and take any decision on it. “Our engineers will help AP if they construct projects as per allocations,” he said.
Niranjan Reddy, criticising the Congress and BJP for not filing a single case against AP on the illegal projects, pointed out that the party, however, had filed several cases against Telangana government for taking up various projects.
Without meeting the requirements of all in Krishna basin, AP was trying to take water to Penna basin. “It’s illegal and unjust,” he said, and wondered why the two national parties were mum on this.
Jagadish Reddy said no one can take away the right of Telangana people till Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is around. “AP has actually created the problem and constructing projects under the guise of taking up surveys,” he added.
