Hyderabad: Drinking water supply to parts of the city has been halted due to the flooding of Mallaram pump house in Siddipet.
Following heavy downpour there, the Mallaram pump house was flooded with rainwater and nine pumps, that purify water, were inundated. From the pump house, water is supplied to parts of the city through Godavari water pipelines.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) in a press release said that water supplies to some parts of the city will be disrupted for 48 hours from Monday. The affected areas include Malkajgiri, Serilingampally, Kukatpally, Quthbullapur, Nizampet and Bachupally.
The water board in a press release requested people to use water conservatively to avoid inconvenience, and dial 155313 (HMWS&SB customer care number) for assistance. Finance Minister T Harish Rao along with HMWS&SB Managing Director, Dana Kishore visited the pump house.
Meanwhile, due to rains that have been lashing the city and suburbs, the twin reservoirs of Himayath Sagar and Osman Sagar have been receiving abundant inflows.
On Monday around 6 pm, the water level at Himayath Sagar was recorded at 1,762.85 feet against the FTL of 1,763.50 feet. At Osman Sagar, the water level was recorded at 1,787.65 feet against a FTL of 1,790 feet.
