Hyderabad: With incessant rains for the past three days, several road stretches in the city remained gridlocked, and commuters had to face severe traffic jams due to vehicular movement crawling at a snail’s pace.

Motorists remained stuck for extended periods, leading to delays in daily commuting, and commuters reported difficulty finding any diversion routes to bypass the affected areas.

Under the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC), severe waterlogging caused by deep potholes and ongoing infra works at key stretches forced motorists to struggle through traffic jams and slow vehicular movement.

Those proceeding towards IKEA and Cyber Towers were forced onto alternate routes via Madhapur or Jubilee Hills towards Gachibowli, some passing through the interior roads of Jubilee Hills or Madhapur while others ended up on alternate rear approaches towards Hafeezpet.

At Gachibowli and IIIT Junction, traffic movement remained a major issue with many preferring alternate routes and those proceeding towards Lingampally going towards HCU Bus Depot via Masjid Banda.

In Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC), pillar works for the Uppal elevated corridor were in progress, causing severe delays. Crucial junctions connecting Malkajgiri with Secunderabad had congestion along key routes.

Commuters had no option but to avoid Safilguda, Anand Bagh underpass and Mirjalguda crossroads due to heavy water accumulation, and proceeded through alternate routes to reach Secunderabad. Severe waterlogging was noticed on Anand Bagh, Safilguda, Chilkalgud and Bible House stretches.

In the GHMC area, work on stormwater drain manholes at Model House in Panjagutta resulted in motorists experiencing a traffic jam on the NIMS and Panjagutta stretch. At KBR junction, Jubilee Hills Check Post, Indo-American Cancer Hospital, and Agrasen Maharaj Island, ongoing deep earth excavation work for steel flyovers and underpasses also caused issues for motorists.
