Siddipet: Siddipet Collector P Venkatrami Reddy on Tuesday said the State government had always taken into consideration the sacrifices made by displaced persons under various projects of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS).
Speaking after hoisting the national flag on the occasion of 72nd Republic Day in Siddipet, the collector said the government had given the best package to displaced under these projects.
“The government will always be there to support these families since their sacrifices were key in realising the dream project,” he said, adding that since Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was also once displaced under a project, he understood their problems and was always sympathetic and considerate towards the displaced.
Reddy said the government had acquired 50,000 acres in the district from 28,000 farmers for Mallanna Sagar, Konda Pochamma Sagar, Ranganayaka Sagar and other projects and its canals under the project.
“The government has rehabilitated residents of 13 villages that were submerged under these projects. We had set an example for the rest of the nation by providing the best rehabilitation and resettlement package,” he said.
The government, he said, built Mutrajpally, Tunki Bollaram and Lingareddy Pally R&R Colonies providing the residents with best infrastructure facilities. “The government organised mass house-warming ceremonies at the time of handing over double bedroom houses to the displaced,” he said, and thanked the displaced, contractors and engineers for their role in completing the projects and R&R colonies.
Reddy also listed out the various developmental and welfare schemes undertaken in the district in the past one year. Zilla Parishad Chairperson V Roja Sharma, MLC Farooq Hussain, Commissioner of Police D Joel Davis, Additional Collectors S Padmakar, Mujammil Khan and others were present.
