General Science – India’s Achievements in Science and Technology
Basics of physics, chemistry, and biology along with the developments in space technology, defense technology, and biotechnology in India must be covered for this segment. All important milestones in terms of launches (satellites/missiles) that India achieved should be read along with all important institutions constituted for research and development in these fields, their location, and purpose. Emphasis should be on current developments and their background information. The weightage of this area will be around 10 marks.

Environmental Issues – Disaster Management – Prevention and Mitigation Strategies
A candidate should be well versed with basic concepts in the environment such as biome, carbon sink, sustainable development and so on. Equal importance should be given to all important conventions – what it deals with, year of its enforcement, the parent organization, India’s status w.r.t. the convention, and in current updates – the recent summit on the convention. Candidates should also be aware of the name and location of

• Biosphere Reserves
• Tiger Reserves
• National Parks
Disaster Management- Prevention and Mitigation Strategies –
Candidates must focus on basic concepts, types of disaster, the National Disaster Management Act and other measures by the Central Government and the State Government to mitigate disasters.

The weightage of this area will be around 10 marks.
World Geography, Indian Geography, and Geography of Telangana State
Candidates must study concepts in geography (eg – meaning of Gorge, El Nino) and focus more on locations of land and water forms in physical geography (eg – deepest sea in the world) for which reading an Atlas is important. Special focus on the state geography – rivers, waterfalls, projects, tribes, and so on is essential as the majority of questions are expected on state Geography.

The weightage of this area will be around 15 marks out of which nearly half the questions will be on State Geography.
History and Cultural Heritage of India
Candidates must study all the three phases of Indian History – ancient, medieval, and modern – with a special emphasis on socio-cultural history (Indian Renaissance) and national freedom struggle for independence. The focus will be on facts. This area is also mentioned in Paper-II where its weightage is around 30 marks and the syllabus is well detailed. Ideally, a candidate must study Indian History as part of Paper-I and Paper-II.

The weightage of this area will be maximum 10 marks in Paper I.
Society, Culture, Heritage, Arts and Literature of Telangana
This is the most important area in Paper I as its weightage will be around 20 marks. These topics are also part of salient features of Indian Society. This area is also part of salient features of Telangana Society under Indian Society, Cultural History under Telangana History, and Unit I under formation of Telangana. It is about the socio-cultural history of Telangana wherein an aspirant is expected to be aware of the –
• handlooms
• handicrafts
• historical monuments with locations and details of the year and person who constructed it
• inscriptions of various kings with their content and locations
• books and authors
• quotes by famous people from Telangana
• songs and writers
• movies on Telangana, director and songs
• autobiographies
• Telangana dialect
• Festivals and Jataras
• Tribes and their lifestyle
• Water tanks in Telangana

Policies of Telangana State
This area is about the different measures the Government of Telangana had initiated for various social groups and in various sectors of development. Candidates must be aware of every detail related to the initiatives – date, and place of launch, beneficiaries, aim and objectives, the ministry responsible for implementations, targets under the initiative, and achievements till date. Though this area is a part of the economy, a special focus on these details is recommended as more number questions are expected.
