Hyderabad: WhatsApp has announced a set of new features aimed at improving chat management, storage control and cross-platform usability, as the Meta-owned messaging platform continues to expand its tools for users.
The update introduces several enhancements, including easier storage management, cross-platform chat transfer, dual-account support on iOS, AI-powered photo editing and writing assistance.
One of the key additions allows users to find and delete large files directly within a chat. By selecting the chat name and opening the Manage Storage option, users can clear unnecessary media without deleting the entire conversation. The update also enables users to remove only media files while retaining chat history.
WhatsApp has also expanded its chat transfer feature, allowing users to move their chat history from iOS to Android, in addition to transfers within the same platform. The feature enables users to transfer conversations, photos and videos when switching devices.
In another update, WhatsApp has introduced support for two accounts on a single iPhone, similar to the functionality already available on Android. Users can now manage personal and work accounts on the same device, with profile pictures displayed to indicate which account is active.
The messaging platform is also improving the sticker experience by suggesting stickers based on emojis typed in chats, making it easier for users to add expressive reactions.
Additionally, WhatsApp is introducing Meta AI-powered tools that allow users to edit photos within chats before sending them. The AI feature can remove distractions, change backgrounds or apply different visual styles, though availability may vary by region.
The company has also enhanced its AI Writing Help tool, which can now suggest responses based on the ongoing conversation while maintaining user privacy.
WhatsApp said the new features are rolling out gradually and will be available to all users in the coming weeks.
