When Wabbits Go Hunting!
Reviewing Bangbang Rabbit! for the Android ecosystem

Bangbang Rabbit! is simple, you are a rabbit and you are out to hunt bad guys. The ‘bad guys’ here are monsters from the cat family so a horde of cats, jaguars, panthers, lions and tigers (called cat demons) need to be stopped and you the titular bunny must do it. The game is a simple side to side scroller and as you move right and left your rabbit constantly, slashes, punches and attacks depending on the weapon being wielded.
The story, and the simplistic movement/engagement are not the strengths of Bangbang Rabbit! but the game has been carefully crafted for the mobile platform. It focuses instead on great combat mechanics, a wide variety of weapons and special attacks along with an incredible number of upgrades. With a detailed skill-based progression tree and in-level bonus cards to choose from you watch each of them stack and your timid bunny transforms into a gargantuan symbol for peace and justice.
The game’s design is just as simple as its premise as it is always played in front of a stunning visual and some generic music that resonates with the setting. For example, as you fight in the desert, classic Lebanese music fills your ears with a sand castle in the background or as you clear the snow lands invigorating music is chosen to accompany a Viking residence in the offing; while the setting is common the impression though is lasting.
Similarly, like all free to play games there are in-game ads and in-app purchases here but they are subtly present and never in your face. Ads when watched always offer the player something in return, be it double the rewards or an epic version of a bonus card instead of the normal one. This is a refreshing change as the players must decide if watching an ad is worth the benefit and the entire exercise feels more voluntary than thrust upon.
Lastly, in terms of game play the time flies as you slay hordes of cat demons and so does your phone’s battery. With a simple attack and dodge system and a detailed leveling up mechanism Bangbang Rabbit! is a great example of what can be achieved with the bare essentials. Give it a try when you feel the need to take a break!
