Who should resign, KCR or Revanth Reddy? KT Rama Rao asks youth

BRS working president KT Rama Rao demanded Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s resignation, alleging that the Congress had failed to fulfil its poll promises even after 1,000 days. He also criticised the government over youth issues and challenged Rahul Gandhi

Karimnagar: Hitting back at the Congress’ demand for the resignation of BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao, the BRS on Saturday demanded the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s resignation, accusing him of failing to fulfil poll promises and deceiving different sections of people.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao said the Congress had promised to implement its six guarantees within 100 days of coming to power, but 1,000 days had passed without fulfilling the assurances. Similarly, the Congress had made 24 promises to youngsters under its Youth Declaration, but not a single one had been fulfilled even after 1,000 days, he maintained.

Addressing a students and youth conference here, Rama Rao asked the gathering who should resign: the Chief Minister or BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao.“Should KCR, who achieved separate Telangana, resign?” Rama Rao asked. The gathering responded in unison that Revanth Reddy should resign.

When he asked whether the Chief Minister, who had promised to fulfil assurances within 100 days but deceived the youth, should resign, the gathering again responded in the affirmative.

Rama Rao recalled that the Congress had demanded the BRS president’s resignation in 2006 as well. After he resigned from the Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat, the Congress was defeated badly, the BRS working president stated.

“Now, Revanth Reddy is trying to lock horns with KCR. He should bear in mind that he too will meet the same fate as the Congress in 2006,” Rama Rao warned.

Slamming the Congress’ demand as illogical, he said its leaders should resign 420 times for failing to fulfil 420 promises.

Referring to the Chief Minister’s decision to drop Forest Minister Konda Surekha from the Cabinet, Rama Rao said people would dethrone the Congress government in the next elections.

“The Congress came to power with impractical guarantees and by misleading the youth. Did it offer two lakh jobs in a year, scooters to college-going girls or a monthly honorarium of Rs.4,000?” he asked. The youth responded in the negative.

Rama Rao also criticised Revanth Reddy for his remarks that many engineering students were unable to even file job applications. He said students were instead questioning whether the Chief Minister had the skill to fill his election affidavit.

He recalled the youth protests in New Delhi that had put the BJP government at the Centre under pressure. Revanth Reddy, he said, was unaware of the commitment and strength of the youth and would be taught a fitting lesson.

Rama Rao also blamed the Congress for delaying the formation of Telangana for political reasons and alleged that many youngsters lost their lives during the separate Statehood movement.

He claimed that Telangana had excelled in several sectors during the 10 years of BRS rule, while the State had witnessed “destruction” since the Congress came to power in 2023.

“Corruption and irregularities are plaguing governance. Ministers are fighting with each other to loot the State. Bakasura Brothers are amassing wealth and encroaching lands,” Rama Rao alleged.

The BRS working president also criticised Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his “Chhatron Ki Goonj” campaign and asked him to visit Karimnagar to experience the anger of unemployed youth.

He charged that Rahul Gandhi was changing his party’s policies from one State to another.

“Rahul Gandhi is changing colours from State to State. You are talking about ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ across India. I demand that you come to Karimnagar in Telangana and listen to the problems of our students. You will hear the real ‘Goonj’ of students here,” he said.

Questioning Rahul Gandhi about the job calendar announced by the Congress government in Telangana, Rama Rao said that if the Congress MP failed to visit Karimnagar, the BRS would travel to New Delhi and remind him of the government’s unfulfilled promises.
