Tanuku (West Godavari district): Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Tuesday wondered why some persons were unable to stomach when something good is done to the poor, and gave a call to the people to question such persons.

Addressing a huge gathering after inaugurating the Jagananna Sampoorna Gruha Hakku Pathakam–one time settlement (OTS) programme here, he said, “You ask them why they are sore when houses are registered for a nominal fee. Will they buy your houses without OTS? You have to question Chandrababu, Ramoji Rao (Eenadu group chairman) and Radhakrishna (Andhra Jyothi/ABN managing director) why they don’t tolerate when your Jagananna is registering houses free of cost.”

In this context, he recalled how Chandrababu Naidu rejected the pleas for waiver of interest five times under some pretext or the other.

“Forget about the waiver of loans, these gentlemen did not even waive the interest on loans,” he pointed out.

Noting that the scheme was aimed to give complete ownership rights to 52 lakh beneficiaries, the Chief Minister revealed that it provided a waiver of Rs.10,000 crore loans, and Rs.6,000 crore registration and stamp duty. The value of the property given to the beneficiaries was to the tune of Rs. 1.58 lakh crore and they were given the right to even sell the property, he explained.
