Wife of former Indian football captain loses battle with cancer

Edna Amalraj, wife of former Indian football captain Victor Amalraj, passed away on July 11 at the age of 67 after a battle with cancer

Hyderabad: Edna Amalraj, wife of former India football captain Victor Amalraj, passed away here on July 11. She was 67 and had been suffering from cancer.

Football fraternity including GP Vijay Kumar, retired IRS and a close friend of Amalraj, expressed condolences to the bereaved family members.

It may be mentioned here that Amalraj had the rare distinction of leading all the three famous football clubs of Bengal – Mohammedan Sporting, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan.
