Nalgonda: Nalgonda Town-II police on Wednesday arrested four persons including the wife of the victim, Eruganti Venkanna, at Panagal in Nalgonda. The arrested were Eruganti Sujatha, wife of the victim, Kappa Lingaswamy, Chenna Keshav Reddy and K Srikanth.
Police said the woman with the help of her paramour Lingaswamy smothered her husband to death with a pillow on January 29 night. That was their third attempt to kill Venkanna, police found.
Presenting the arrested at the media, DSP Venkateshwar Reddy said that an extramarital affair between Sujatha and Lingaswamy was the reason behind the murder. With the help of his friends Keshav Reddy and Srikanth, Kingaswamy also tried to kill Venkanna by hitting him with a car but failed in their effort.
Sujatha had also tried to kill her earlier by mixing more than 20 tablets used to treat diabetics in the food and served to her husband on January 28. But, no harm was done to Venkanna even after he consumed the food. When Venkanna slept in the house in a drunken condition, his wife called her paramour to their house. The accused along with his friends came home and smothered the victim to death, police said.
