Hyderabad: Never can a filmmaker be as cryptic as Ram Gopal Varma. Once again, Varma has openly triggered a public debate on the ongoing issue of ticket prices in Andhra Pradesh. While filmmakers are unhappy with the ongoing issue, let’s wait to see if RGV’s remarks will make celebs and bigwigs of the Telugu film industry react to the low ticket fares in AP.

Before actually shooting a series of tweets to Cinematography Minister of Andhra Pradesh Perni Nani, Varma wanted the AP government to come up with a new strategy to deal with the issue of ticket prices prevailing in the State. He further suggested the State government devise a plan that it can buy tickets from producers and sell it to poorer sections at lower prices.

At a time when many bigwigs in the Telugu film industry keep mum on the ongoing row, Varma said he would demand his colleagues in the film industry to speak up and express their true feelings about the ticket rates because ‘if you can’t speak out now, you can never open your mouth’. “It is not my request, but it is my demand to all my colleagues in the film industry to speak up on their true feelings about the ticket rates issue because ippudu nollu moosukunte inkeppatikee theravaleru ..Tharvatha Mee kharma(sic),” his tweet reads.

Another tweet of Varma reads, “Dear honourable minister of cinematography @perni_nani Sir, I would like your honourable team to understand that pricing of heroes like @alluarjun @pawankalyan @urstrulymahesh etc is nothing but a subtract between production cost and the expected recovery based on track record.”

While his tweets on ticket prices and remuneration of star heroes may seem very logical to common people, however, some users wondered whether RGV was actually rubbing the YS Jagan’s government the wrong way only to face the implications. The drama apart, none of the celebs or top filmmakers have responded or reacted to his series of tweets. It’s a wait and watch game for everyone.
