Hyderabad: We have usually seen film celebrities and leading politicians doing ‘ask me anything sessions’ on social media platforms. But breaking that trend, this time, senior IAS officer Smita Sabharwal took time to interact with the netizens on Twitter with #askSS.
The CMO Secretary posted: “So we never got around to the #askSS… but here’s an ask from me to you all! I want my timeline to be useful, timely, and more worth your while. So let me know what I can do better?!”
Soon after, several netizens quizzed Smita, who has completed 20 years as a civil servant, about her struggles at the workplace and how inspiring she has been to several civil aspirants.
While a few asked Smita Sabharwal to write a snippet of her life story and experiences being a civil servant every week to inspire Twitter users, some even asked her to share about her recent films watched, favourite Hyderabadi food and also her favourite novel.
Some netizens made suggestions too. “Madam, a small request from me. Please give the duty of planting trees to the students, make it a part of their education and allot some marks to it. By this, they will get the awareness on protection of environment and plants. By this program, money spent on this program is saved in huge amounts. I humbly request you to implement so,” shared a user. Smita quickly replied saying: “Nice suggestion. Let’s see if we can make it a mandate soon.”
Another Twitter user quizzed about one initiative that gave the senior officer lots of satisfaction and Smita Sabharwal responded saying: Maternal and Child Health initiative- Amma Lalana ( done during district tenure).
Some also asked her about her sari collection, to which Smita responded saying most of them are handloom and are of her mother’s.
Towards the end, when Smita Sabharwal was quizzed, If given a chance, will she choose to be an IAS again to which she responded with enthusiasm: “Every single time ! Its a great platform to deliver work that impacts people.”
