Hyderabad: A picture of confidence and defiance combined gracefully on Thursday, BRS working president KT Rama Rao’s most repeated statement before and after the marathon ACB questioning session was that truth would prevail.
Speaking to the media at his Nandi Nagar residence before leaving for the ACB office in Banjara Hills, Rama Rao oozed confidence of having answers to all questions, as he was upright and sure that his decisions were only to enhance the brand image of Hyderabad and Telangana on a global level. He would not be frightened by the false cases being booked one after the other by the Congress.
“As the son of BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao and a soldier of the Telangana movement, I will die for Telangana but never bow to the Congress,” he declared.
“In 10 years of BRS rule, I have not awarded contracts worth Rs.1,137 crore to my brother-in-laws or misused power to benefit my son’s company. Only Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and some of his Ministers are capable of such wrongdoings,” he said, adding that unlike Revanth Reddy, he did not get caught red-handed with Rs.50 lakh to buy votes from a MLA.
The BRS working president stated that only dimwitted and half-knowledge leaders from the Congress were drawing pleasure by mudslinging him based on a politically motivated case. He vowed to continue speaking against the government’s failures.
“BRS fought against power tariff hike, HYDRAA demolitions, arrest of Lagacherla farmers and other issues of public concern. Notwithstanding these arrests, we will continue to question the government on all fronts. The Congress leaders cannot divert our attention by filing cases against us,” he asserted..
Stating that his audacious intent was to make TMV (Telangana Mobility Valley) clusters the epicentre for innovation, research and manufacturing of electric vehicles creating employment and revenue, Rama Rao said the previous BRS government had started well, bringing in marquee investments of over Rs.12,000 crore during the E-mobility week 2023.
“Small minds driven by petty politics may never understand any of this, but I am confident that people of Telangana who are observing everything, will understand the truth and the vision,” he said.
Earlier in the day, the police placed several BRS leaders including former Minister T Harish Rao and MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy under house arrest. They were let off only after Rama Rao reached the ACB office. Harish Rao, along with MLC K Kavitha, senior leaders Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Satyavathi Rathod, V Srinivas Goud, MLAs Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Padi Kaushik Reddy, MP Vaddiraju Ravichandra and several others remained stationed at Telangana Bhavan throughout the day till Rama Rao returned to the party headquarters from the ACB office.
