Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao asserted that personal attacks, character assassination and other slander campaigns against him, will not be tolerated any longer. He exuded confidence that the truth would prevail in the court and he would be able to put an end to this, in connection with the Rs 100 crore defamation lawsuit filed against Minister Konda Surekha.

In a statement, Rama Rao referred to Surekha’s comments that he tapped phones and blackmailed actresses, as “malicious and cheap”, aimed to tarnish his character. He stated that he has taken a firm stand against such cowardly personal attacks. “For too long, these attacks have gone unchecked through whisper campaigns and social media slander. As a public representative, I have always prioritised people’s issues over personal vendettas, but it’s time to draw a line,” he said.

He expressed confidence that truth would prevail in the court, adding that this lawsuit should serve as a lesson to those who believe they can indulge in cheap political rhetoric in the name of political criticism, without consequences. He hoped that his defamation suit would not only protect his personal integrity, but also set a precedent against unwarranted political mudslinging.
