Karimnagar: BC Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar on Thursday assured the farmers that the State government will procure the paddy crop soaked due to unseasonal rains. In a statement, the Minister asked farmers not to worry about soaked paddy since the Telangana government led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was ready to protect the interests of the farming community. Stating that there was no shortage of money, Kamalakar informed that the Chief Minister had sanctioned Rs 15,000 crore to procure paddy.
Food Corporation of India has agreed to purchase 80 lakh tonnes. So far, 1,983 lakh tonnes was procured from 1.40 lakh farmers. It was decided to set up 7,183 purchasing centers and 6,144 centers have already started.
