Hyderabad: Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar said he would seek the opinion of legal experts after receiving a copy of the Supreme Court order on the disqualification of defected BRS MLAs.

Speaking to media persons on Thursday, the Speaker said: “I will consult legal experts on the issue after receiving the full order copy.”

Pointing out that he had issued notices to the defected BRS MLAs, the Speaker said the replies were also received from the MLAs.

“There is nothing to hide. I will share all the details after receiving the Supreme Court order copy,” Prasad Kumar said.

On the three-month condition imposed by the apex court, the Speaker asked the media to check former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar’s statements.

Meanwhile, MLC Addanki Dayakar stated that the Supreme Court had not questioned the Speaker’s rights and had only issued a few directions. The Supreme Court had clearly mentioned that the Assembly Speaker can only protect the House rights. But BRS leaders were claiming that the court had issued a verdict in their favour, he said at the CLP office here on Thursday.

“The BRS leaders should carefully read the Supreme Court orders,” Dayakar said.

Government Whip Aadi Srinivas said the Supreme Court wanted the Speaker to act on the MLAs’ defection in three months. Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar would take a decision as per the court orders, he said.
