Kothagudem/Warangal: Severe windstorm wreaked havoc across Karakagudem mandal and other parts in Kothagudem and erstwhile Warangal districts on Tuesday evening resulting in power outages; property damage and death of livestock.

Heavy rains, which lashed the region for two hours uprooted trees at several places. In Srirangapuram village in the mandal, gusty winds ripped a house’s metal roof off, sending it flying and shattering it.

In the same village a massive tree was uprooted and crashed onto a house; fortunately, a tragedy was averted as there was no one inside at the time. Similarly, in Regulla village, a mango tree was uprooted by the winds, crashing onto two tractors parked beneath it damaging their engines.

In Cherla mandal at CR Colony due to the intensity of the strong winds, two houses belonging to Kisari Nagesh and Chippanapalli Ramulu razed to the ground and damaged household appliances, grain and other equipment.

In Venkatapuram mandal as many as 35 goats were killed by lightning strike on the outskirts of Alubaka village. The goats belonging to Majja Chandrayya died on the spot. In another incident three cattle died due to a lightning strike at Barrebonda village.

The cowherds, Chinnakka and Narasimha Rao, sustained minor injuries in the lightning strike and were rushed to Venkatapuram Hospital for treatment.
