Hyderabad: The monsoon appears to be on a break in the city. After a brief spell of showers, the temperature in the city is also steadily rising. On Saturday, it was 33.8 degree Celsius, which was one degree higher than normal.

According to officials at the India Meteorological Department, Hyderabad, the climate would remain the same for a few days.

“The northwest winds are prevalent over the State due to which we are not receiving any rains. This situation will continue for the next couple of days. Till then, city might receive only light drizzles towards evening,” said IMD Hyderabad director Dr K Nagaratna.

At the same time, IMD has issued a five-day thunderstorm warning for other districts in the State. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at isolated places over Telangana, the warning said, adding that heavy to very heavy rainfall was very likely to occur in districts including Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal (Rural), Warangal (Urban), Jangaon, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthi and Narayanpet.
