Hyderabad: Accusing the Central government of continuing with its discrimination of Telangana State, TRS MLAs demanded that the BJP government withdraw it plans to auction four coal blocks in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).
Despite Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao personally writing a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to auction the coal blocks in SCCL, the Central government was not considering Telangana government’s pleas, said Government Whip Balka Suman.
Addressing media persons here on Saturday, he said when the Gujarat government appealed to stop the auction of coal blocks in the State, the Central government responded immediately. Further, it allocated the blocks to State-owned Coal India, he said. “After rendering injustice to farmers in paddy procurement, the BJP government is now targeting Singareni employees and their welfare,” Suman said.
Interestingly, while the Singareni employees went on strike against the Central government’s plans to auction the coal blocks, local BJP leaders were maintaining a strategic silence, he said, adding: “They have not bothered to even visit Singareni and speak to the employees”.
PUC Chairman A Jeevan Reddy said after the farming community, public sector companies’ employees were closely observing the BJP government’s plans and would teach a fitting lesson to the party leaders in the State.
“BJP MPs should prove their commitment to Telangana by exerting pressure on the Centre to scrap its plans to auction the coal blocks in Singareni,” said Jeevan Reddy.
