Hyderabad: A woman has accused Shankarpally police of falsely declaring her a minor and arresting her husband, in a POCSO case despite her claim that she is an adult and married him willingly.
In a video circulated on social media on Friday, the woman alleged that she had submitted her Aadhaar card and other government-issued documents to establish her age. She also claimed that police pressured her and her parents to undergo a medical examination despite their objections and threatened to book her parents under criminal cases and send them to jail.
Meanwhile, the Shankarpally police denied the allegations, stating that a case was registered on October 12 based on a complaint by the woman’s father, who suspected that she had been kidnapped.
Police said her statement was recorded at the Bharosa Centre and her Class X memorandum and other documents were verified, with available records indicating that she was a minor.
