Suryapet: Charging injustice in allotment of Indiramma Houses, a woman attempted suicide by consuming pesticide at “Praja Palana – Pragathi Pranalika” programme at Tadvai village here on Thursday.

District Collector Tejas Nandlal Pawar and SP Narasimulu were present when she attempted suicide at the programme.
According to reports, Kota Sunitha, a resident of Tadvai, had been appealing to officials to sanction Indiramma House. She alleged that local leaders and officials had been deliberately denying the house to her.

As the programme commenced, Sunitha tried to make an appeal with the District Collector and the SP. She charged only those with political support and those who could manage officials, were allotted Indiramma Houses. In the middle of narrating her ordeal, Sunitha took out a pesticide bottle and consumed it right in front of the officials, reports said.

As she was losing consciousness, the police immediately shifted her to the Government General Hospital at Kodad. The incident left officials and villagers shocked. The villagers demanded the officials to conduct a probe into her allegations and deliver justice, the reports added.
