Khammam: A woman allegedly attempted to kill her husband by stabbing him with a kitchen knife at Gollapudi village of Wyra mandal in the district on Friday.

The man, Porala Ravi, suffered multiple bleeding injuries on his face, chest and stomach. Neighbours rushed the profusely bleeding man to the Government General Hospital for treatment after he managed to escape from his furious wife.

Speaking to the media, Ravi, who could not walk properly due a disability, said his wife Lakshmi attacked him all of sudden when he asked her to give him his mobile when she was completely engrossed on her mobile phone early in the morning. He said his wife cornered him in a room in their house and indiscriminately stabbed him even as he asked her to calm down. Stating that his wife did not like him, Ravi said she left for her maternal home at Rebbavaram in the mandal 18 times in their nine years of married life.

Recently when she went to her maternal home, her father brought her back to her husband and advised her to live amicably with Ravi. But Lakshmi told her father that she would come back to her maternal home only after killing him, Ravi alleged.

Ravi’s family members said that Lakshmi had in the past made a similar attempt by inflicting a bleeding injury on his body with a piece of glass. Lakshmi, who was taken into police custody, reportedly told police that she was being harassed by her husband and wanted to kill him.
