Mancherial: A 19-year-old woman auto-rickshaw driver died by suicide, reportedly due to financial distress, at Karji village in Nennal mandal on Saturday.
According to police, Addarapalli Mamatha took the extreme step by hanging herself after her vehicle was seized by a financier about a month ago. She had bought the auto-rickshaw from a person who had defaulted on a loan a year earlier. Though she informed the seller, he reportedly expressed helplessness in resolving the issue.
Police recovered a suicide note purportedly written by Mamatha. In it, she mentioned being disheartened that the vehicle was taken without prior notice. She ended her life when none of her family members were at home.
Her father, Nagesh, lodged a complaint with the police. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
