Khammam: Sathupally police in the district registered a case against a woman under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO)-2012 for allegedly kidnapping and marrying a minor boy.

According to police, the parents of the boy from Kistaram village in Sathupally mandal registered a complaint on March 17 with the police, saying that their son went to write the Intermediate first year exams and did not return.

The police registered a missing case and launched an investigation into the incident. Based on the boy’s call data and WhatsApp chats, they identified that the woman, Triveni of Kallur Municipality, was in a relationship with the boy and examined the case from that angle.

Police questioned Triveni’s mother and sister to collect details about her. The family members said that she had been married twice in the past and that she was working in a prominent hospital in Sathupally, had left her two husbands and that they did not know the rest.

The police, who had obtained the woman’s phone number and social media accounts, located her at Veleswaram village, a suburb of Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh, based on a photo posted by her on Instagram.

The police formed two teams, arrested the woman on Saturday night, booked her under the provisions of the POCSO Act and sent her to judicial remand. The boy was also brought to Sathupally.
