Woman, child jump into Godavari from Bhadrachalam bridge; rescued by locals
A woman and her child survived after jumping into the Godavari river from the Bhadrachalam bridge in Kothagudem district. Devotees raised an alarm, prompting locals and fishermen to rescue them. The woman, Swaroopa from Paloncha, is undergoing treatment.
Kothagudem: A woman, along with her child, jumped into river Godavari from the bridge at Bhadrachalam and the duo survived miraculously.
The devotees going back to their homes in the afternoon hours after attending Lord Rama ‘Pattabhishekam’ at Bhadradri Temple raised alarm on noticing the woman jumping into river in a suicide attempt. The locals and fishermen rushed to their rescue and saved them.
The woman, Swaroopa hailing from Paloncha in the district, sustained injuries due to the fall from the bridge and was rushed to Government Area Hospital for medical treatment. The woman and her child were said to be stable now. The woman was said to have lost her husband recently.
