Woman constable dies by suicide in Warangal
A woman constable in Warangal allegedly died by suicide at her in-laws’ house. A suicide note reportedly accused a fellow constable of harassment and mental torture. Police have registered a case of abetment to suicide and launched an investigation.
Warangal: A female constable attached to Bhupalpally police station and a resident of Bodrai area Mattewada in Warangal allegedly died by suicide.
The deceased Sadu Sangeetha (33) hanged herself from a ceiling fan using a saree at her in-laws’ residence during late evening hours on Tuesday after returning from her duties. Her husband, who was away at work; upon his return home in the evening, found her body hanging from the ceiling and informed the local police.
In a suicide note recovered from the scene, she stated that she was taking own life because she had been subjected to sexual harassment and mental torture by a constable. The police shifted the body to MGM Hospital for a post-mortem and handed over the body to family members on Wednesday.
Based on a complaint filed by the deceased woman’s relatives, a case was registered against the accused under charges of abetment to suicide and other relevant sections, and an investigation into the matter has been initiated, police said.
